This privacy statement explains how Castrol intends to process your personal information through the Castrol Oil Essentials Program website.  

WHAT PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT AND WHY

You were emailed a link to register as a Castrol Oil Essentials Program user by a BP/Castrol staff member (a “Market Administrator”) or an authorized distributor of Castrol (a “Distributor Administrator”) who wishes to invite you to register for their Castrol Oil Essentials Program user group.  Please note that Castrol did not supply your contact information to the Distributor Administrator.

If you wish to register for the Castrol Oil Essentials Program website and accept to be bound by our Terms and Conditions, you will be asked to provide the minimum personal information necessary for us to create your account (i.e., your name and email address). This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract we have with you, which is governed by our Terms & Conditions.

Castrol may also use your contact details to contact you with information on additional products and/or services and/or offers/promotions that Castrol reasonably thinks may be of interest to you; however, we will only send you marketing communications in line with your previously expressed preferences. If you no longer wish to receive such communications, please follow the opt-out instructions contained in each marketing communication.

We also collect personal data from cookies, which we explain more about below.

WHO DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA WITH AND WHERE DOES IT GO?

Your personal data, including course completion data, may be viewed by the Market Administrator and/or Distributor Administrator and may be shared with the manager of your dealership by the Market Administrator.

We may store or transfer your personal data to our other BP companies around the world.  We do this under our group-wide Binding Corporate Rules, which guarantee an adequate level of data protection wherever your data is physically kept.

We also use the services of third-party service providers. Any third-party provider we appoint must act in accordance with our written instructions when processing your personal data and must protect your personal data in line with the contractually required security measures. Where we store or transfer your personal data to a third party provider based outside the European Economic Area, we take steps to ensure your personal data is adequately protected. 

We have the right to disclose your personal data as required by law, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, request from a regulator or any other legal process served on BP. If there is a takeover, sale or purchase of our business, we may disclose your personal data to the new (or prospective) owner of the business.

HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

If your account has been inactive for a continuous period of 24 months, you will receive an email asking you if you wish to reactivate your account. If you do not do so within 30 days from the receipt of this service email, your account, along with all personally identifiable information relating to your account, will be permanently deleted.

Please note that we may continue to process aggregated data from which you can no longer be identified for a longer period of time.

CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY STATEMENT

We may update this privacy statement from time to time and recommend that you revisit it on occasion to see the latest version.
